    Guru Dutt was born as Vasanth Kumar Shivashankar Padukone on Thursday, 9 July 1925 ( age 39 years; at the time of his death) in Bangalore, Kingdom of Mysore, British India (now Bengaluru, Karnataka, India). Guru Dutt’s Zodiac sign is cancer. After a childhood accident, his name was changed to Gurudatta Padukone, on the advice of a godman.
    And it was a tragic twist of fate that his films, most of which were discounted in his life-time, would be regarded as cult classics after his death.
