National Tartan Day is a US observance on April 6 each year. It commemorates the Scottish Declaration of Independence, from which the American Declaration of Independence was modeled on. It also recognizes achievements of Americans of Scottish descent.

National Tartan Day, or just Tartan Day, in Canada (since 1987, officially and nationally since 2010), the United States (since 1997, with increasing levels of national officialness conferred in 1998, 2005, and 2008), and Argentina (unofficially from 2006) is held on April 6, the date on which the Scotland's Declaration of Arbroath was signed in 1320.

Tartan Day is a day for Scotland to celebrate our connections with the USA and Canada. It was declared by the Senate in 1998 to celebrate the outstanding achievements and contributions made by Scottish Americans to the United States.

April 6 is National Tartan Day, a holiday meant to honor the considerable contributions of Scots and Scottish Americans to our society. Said contributions include television, MRI scanners, and, of course, the works of Sir Sean Connery.
